In the second part of Hitchhiker, the young guy befriends the weird looking hobo who looks and talks like a murdering lunatic. Actually, the loony guy who befriends the young wordless guy whose imagination sees the worst in his new companion. What our young hero dreads the most is the night, where he would face the lunatic on his own. And there's nothing he can do to stop it.
The second part of the story is filled with dark humour. The irony of seeing the young hero incapable of being rescued because of his companion is priceless. The crazy guy's perspective is funnier. He doesn't realize that his weird and menacing attitude is what's making everybody, including his little buddy, want to get away as far from him. It's a bitter sweet ending to a cool tale.
Whereas the first part of this story established the mood, there's more action in this sequence. Although much of the animation is great, the fact that it's sequenced as looping movies means that it often slides. For example, often when the character walk, you can sense them sliding on the ground because the timing is a little too fast for their walk cycle. Nevertheless, it's still a great project.
