Since last year, I've been sold on the Nokia N800 and similar suite of mobile computers. It's small, more useful than an iPhone and it fits with my lifestyle. I've used it for about a year now and don't regret the purchase at all. Yet, I've been waiting for the iPhone killer from Nokia, and they keep on letting me down. When I saw the 5800 in the Batman film, I thought it was cool that there finally was an iPhone killer. But like Blackberry earlier this year, the sum of the phone, either better than the iPhone, doesn't have the oomph factor that can make a phone beat the iPhone.

Enter the Palm Pre. From the beginning, it plays more than me too with its feature set. It really reaches forward and set the pace for future smart phones, beyond what the iPhone can do right now. What's funny is to see the reaction of hardcore iPhone fans trying to justify and prove that their 2008 phone is better than a 2009 release from Palm.

Another thing which proves to me that Palm has something going, is the wireless charger. Palm is actually redefining the market and what users can expect. A me too product would never introduce such an industry changing feature. It's groovy even if it's useless. It's what the iPhone's reputation is based on - useless groove. And the Palm might actually be a better productivity phone than the iPhone and much more fun to use than a Black Berry.

I don't like my local Palm provider, but I'm willing to sign a contract with them if they sell the Pre for a reasonable price and a reasonable data plan.
